Disc screen refurbishment

Strip, inspect and replace worn drive shafts
Completion date: 20 February 2022
This glass breaker disc screen was causing the customer a lot of tripping issues.
Our investigation identified that this was due to the discs rubbing on the opposite shafts, snapped tensioning bolts, the shafts worn, retaining clips were broken and bearings had failed.
We were asked to completely refurbish the machine from end-to-end and return all 25 shafts back to original standard. We removed four shafts at a time, stripped them down and replaced them with new shafts, bearings, circlips and tension bolts. We reused the original discs and lifted these back into position whilst fitting new sprockets and chains as we progressed.
