Upgrade from hollow bore gearbox to coupling drive

This customer wanted to change the way they remove their gearboxes due to previous gearboxes seizing on the drive shafts.

We designed a new drive coupling system for 5 of their optical sorters. This new system allowed the gearbox to be removed by just taking out four mounting bolts, allowing the gearbox to be lifted off out the way so the drive shaft can be removed easier.

We replaced the gearboxes with a fixed-shaft type and fabricated a gearbox mounting plate that was footed to the existing steel work underneath with a split coupling.
